A tiny kitchen cut off from the rest of the house impeded social and family gatherings, which for a client who loves to cook and entertain was a major issue. The large dining room was rarely used and had an awkwardly located bathroom. Removing part of the wall between the kitchen to the dining room and relocating the bathroom off the hallway created space for an island to connect the cook and guests and opened up the view to the backyard. Updating cabinets and adding shelves added more storage space.
